A Retrospective

My baby was born one year ago today. This little one had turned my world upside-down, backwards then forwards, and added spilled milk and sticky hands . . . and I love her for it. An interesting phenomenon: that Monday I went into work as a scientist and later that night became a mom. Such an event, such a marvelous event. Love you Ellie, love you with every fiber of my being.

December 25

Our Christmas in a post:

Lights at temple square (not pictured)
Zoo lights -- so much more than I expected.
Lighted gorilla's+prancing tiger cubs+stinky somethings = awesome night
Ellie's wide eyes soaked it all in.
The inevitable struggle: toddler -vs- tree
(sometimes I pretended not to see)
The not so inevitable, but equally understandable getting stuck under the tree.
And Christmas morning:
Awe, sweet morning eyes. My baby's first Christmas.
Blocks made by Dad (my favorite toy)

Clementine Cuties

This is the snack food of choice at our house. We go through 5-10 lbs a week (if I can keep us stocked). It is quite comical actually. Whenever Brian or I rip into one of these beauties it is seconds until we have two little birdies (namely Ellie and Annie) begging for a bite.

Birthday Girl!

Annie turned 2 on December 6, 2009. So grown up. We took her for a good run up East Canyon in the morning. Satisfying this uber-athletic pup with bottomless energy entails having her run in front of the truck for 4-5 miles (she averages 15 to 20 mph), parking and walking with her for 3 more, and then topping that off with another 4-5 mile sprint homeward. She really is an amazing animal. Beautiful to watch.(I had to throw this picture in of Ellie and me on the walk. Red is a good color for her I think.)

Then we came home to party hats and presents. She got two squeaky sheep - one to lose and one to hopefully keep. She LOVED them. If she had pants she would have peed them she was so excited. (just to clarify, we didn't have any accidents)After such an exciting day she passed out in front of the fire. She has a good life.

Turkey Day

We started the morning out with the annual Park City Turkey Trot.I highly recommend it -- perfect prelude to second and third helpings of stuffing (not to mention pumpkin pie:).
The run was gorgeous: winding through downtown neighborhoods, mountain resorts towering in the distance, and hundreds of people casting smoke rings like choo-choo trains into the air.Ellie got first place in her division -- really I think we were the only ones to register our 10 month old, she still won.

Then off to Greg and Angie's for some Thanksgiving and giving thanks. It was everything Thanksgiving should be. Good food, lots of visiting, and Ellie even took a nap in the spare bedroom - Bless you child.
